Amarula

The Marula tree only grows in one area on the planet: the warm and frost free area of Africa’s sub-equatorial. It occupies a position of importance in the animal kingdom and human legends and rituals and with fruits from this mystical tree Amarula Cream is born. Amarula is a cream based liqueur made from sugar, cream and fermented marula fruit. Alcohol content reaches 17% with a caramel and fruit flavor. It has had some international success in competitions of alcoholic beverages, winning a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2006. Marula fruit is hand-picked fermented, distilled twice (first column stills and then copper pots) and aged for two years in French oak before blending with the best fresh cream. Color: brown creamy coffee. Aroma: hints of sweet cream, honey, caramel and roasted nuts. Taste: a long, velvety palate, perfectly smooth finish.
